Ellis Simms should be allowed to leave Everton to raise funds for new transfers
Following a Football Insider report that Everton have rejected a £4million bid from Ipswich Town for Ellis Simms, it seems now is the right time to let him go, as his departure would free space for new arrivals.
Getting multi-million pound bids for Simms should be well-received by Everton, who’s intentions to buy a striker this summer have been made clear with links to Viktor Gyokeres and Willy Gnonto persisting.
It certainly looks like the time has come for Simms to leave, and although Everton shouldn’t just accept the first bid that comes along, if Ipswich come back with an improved offer it should be heavily considered. The Liverpool Echo [26th June] reported that “serious bids” would be accepted.

Simms has made just 12 appearances and scored only one goal in his time at Goodison Park, with eight goals being his highest ever season total – in League One with Blackpool three years ago. At 22 years old, with a year left on his contract, he should be looking to move on and reignite his career.
The 11 appearances Simms made under Sean Dyche last season were out of necessity rather than desire, due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury problems and the Toffees’ struggles in front of goal as Neal Maupay only managing one goal in his 27 league appearances.

It has become clear that both Simms and Maupay are not at the level required if Everton wish to avoid being dragged into yet another relegation battle in the coming season, and should be moved on to make room for incoming players.
The Toffees are reported to have made a bid for Viktor Gyokeres, who would be a perfect signing and huge improvement on the current group.
