Everton now have chance to push for Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville after what happened on Tuesday

Everton are interested in signing Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville and his future at Elland Road may now become clearer after what happened on Tuesday night [27 June].

The Elland Road sensation signed a new contract at Leeds until 2026 last summer and was handed the number ten shirt following Raphinha’s exit to Barcelona, becoming a regular feature.

Despite Leeds’ disappointing relegation to the Championship, the 21-year-old still enjoyed something of a breakthrough season scoring four goals and two assists from 28 Premier League games.

According to The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath [21 June], Everton along with Dutch outfit Feyenoord are interested in his services this summer, with the youngster likely to attract plenty of onlookers at this month’s Under-21 European Championships.

Taking to his personal Twitter account, McGrath wrote: “LUFC forward Crysencio Summerville has interest (Feyenoord, Everton) + others expected to join race as he is at the U21 Euros where he can showcase.”

Summerville will have wanted to wait after a successful European Championship campaign with the Netherlands to discuss his future at Elland Road and where he may be heading next.

And he may well be in for a quick resolution after the Netherlands U21s’ disappointing exit from the EUROs on Tuesday [27 June] at the hands of Georgia after a lacklustre performance in their 1-1 draw.

The Dutch youngsters could only manager a third consecutive draw in a row against the tournament hosts on Tuesday evening, which saw them go crashing out of the tournament by a point.

And with his return to an uncertain Elland Road atmosphere on the cards right now, Everton will be smart to push Leeds into selling their young “exceptional” wizard to bolster their attacking weaponry for next season.

And Summerville isn’t the only player Everton are courting at Elland Road, with the Toffees also holding a keen interest in Jack Harrison, Wilfried Gnonto and Tyler Adams, which means manager Sean Dyche may well be looking at not only revamping his squad for next season but ushering in a promising new chapter after what’s been a disastrous couple of years.

The need for an attacking spark at Goodison Park has long been a desired commodity under Sean Dyche’s tutelage after the Everton board failed to hand the former Burnley boss the signings he needed upon his appointment late during the winter window, especially after selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle for £45m and Richarlison to Tottenham for around £60m back last summer.

Dyche has had to rely heavily on the likes of Alex Iwobi and Dwight McNeil as part of his tried and trusted attacking setup to some tremendous success, with Everton avoiding relegation to the Championship on the final day, despite finishing the campaign as the division’s second-lowest scorers (34 goals).

Possessing tremendous trickery, pace, technical quality and the attacking aura to wow the Everton crowd who have been forced to watch on as their team implode in all areas of the pitch in recent times, Summerville holds the potential to win points on his own and represents the perfect tonic for Dyche to help Everton climb the Premier League table and become relevant again.

Time for Everton to make that transfer push now that Summerville’s summer international ambitions have unfortunately been freed up.
