Everton transfer news as Taremi offer made for Goodison Park move
Everton reportedly made a bid to sign FC Porto hotshot Mehdi Taremi, but the player dismissed the offer himself, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
The Iranian forward enjoyed a sensational Liga Nos top-flight campaign, scoring a stunning 22 goals and registering seven assists from 33 games, after starring for his nation at the World Cup also with 2 goals, scoring one of them against England in the group stages.
The 30-year is sure to attract plenty of interest this summer from elite clubs on the continent, but Everton reportedly made a surprise bid to sign him, O Jogo newspaper [1 July, page 2].

However, the Iran talisman knocked back the offer, stating that it wasn’t of interest to him in an interview with Varzesh 3 in Iran.

Wow, Ambitious
Wow, Everton may well have certainly expressed their intention and ambition with a move for Taremi, given his star quality and burgeoning talent right now and the 30-year-old will have fit Sean Dyche’s system right down to a tee.
He would be an ambitious signing for Dyche and Everton, but since he turned down Newcastle when they were battling at the bottom of the league the start of last season it is perhaps no surprise that he is minded to do the same with the Toffees, after the campaign they’ve just had.

Taremi is a Champions League-level player as evidenced by his five goals across the six group-stage games for Porto last season, and he will want to replicate that form again next season, playing for an elite European regular.
Forwards are absolutely a priority at Goodison this summer after Dyche was left with such depleted weaponry at his disposal last season and at the top of their priority list certainly remains to sign a striker.
Taremi bid is an ambitious move, but one certainly too far for Everton right now. There are some more attainable and realistic targets elsewhere, currently waiting in the wings.
In other Everton news, one of the few forwards currently at the club is in the sights of a team who “have money” and have already made contact about signing him.
