Leon Osman shares Sean Dyche sack verdict after ‘dreadful’ Everton season
Sean Dyche should be “given the opportunity” to raise the standards at Everton from the beginning of next season, according to Leon Osman.
Dyche took over from Frank Lampard in January after the latter was sacked with the club sitting 19th in the Premier League table.
The former Burnley boss then guided the Toffees to safety, with the Merseyside outfit finishing in 17th place in the league table.

“First and foremost, he was brought in to do a job and keep the club in the Premier League, and he accomplished it,” Osman told the Liverpool Echo. “Hats off because there wasn’t any place to come in. Confidence was near zero, and results had been dreadful. We were also without the ability to score goals.
“It was difficult circumstances, but we managed to get the job done. He managed to raise the players to a different type of feeling within the club.
“He’s done the first job, and he should be given the opportunity to do that from the start of the season and set those standards up right from the beginning.”

Tough job
Dyche was handed a very difficult job from the very first day he arrived at Everton, but the experienced manager knew exactly what he was getting himself into from day one at Goodison Park.
Fortunately for the boss and indeed for the club, Dyche achieved his main goal to perfection, with the Toffees securing their Premier League safety on the final day of the season.
The Merseyside outfit were in real danger of dropping down to the Championship for quite some time, but a few top performances – mainly in the victories against Arsenal and Brighton – ensured they stayed in the division.
Now, however, it is about taking things up a level, with Toffees supporters desperate not to be involved in a third successive relegation battle.
It will be another very difficult campaign for the Everton manager, who definitely needs to spend whatever money there is available in the summer transfer window.
In other Everton news, one Manchester City player has sent a four-word message to Toffees ace James Garner.
