Everton transfer news: Lewis Warrington exit on the cards with Plymouth Argyle keen to add to Lewis Gibson signing
Lewis Warrington could leave Everton this summer amid transfer interest from Plymouth Argyle, according to Football Transfers.
The youngster only signed a new deal a year ago which still has 12 months to run, and appeared set for a chance in the first-team squad under Frank Lampard but was instead sent on loan to Fleetwood Town in League One.
The Toffees central midfield is arguably the most crowded area of the squad under Sean Dyche so the 20-year-old academy product’s path to first-team action looks blocked.

Therefore he could now move on during the current window, with newly-promoted Championship side Argyle in the hunt for another Finch Farm graduate.
If Warrington does end up at the Shrimpers he will meet up with ex-Everton defender Lewis Gibson who they signed on Monday [Plymouth Herald, 3 July], after the defender left the club despite being offered a new contract.
Last chance
Warrington came fairly close to leaving on a free transfer this time last year before he signed the new deal, but having not got much closer to a breakthrough at Goodison Park in the months since it is unlikely that he would be minded to extend again.
If there aren’t many prospects for him to make an impact at Everton then this is the last chance to get any meaningful return for him.
While it is unlikely to be much money everything helps for Dyche during the transfer window so it seems logical that if Plymouth Argyle table a bid it would be accepted.

Yet another fellow former academy product Tom Davies has already rejected a new contract and left the club, and there remains the unfortunate possibility that Amadou Onana is sold for big money in order to fund the rest of the window.
But with Idrissa Gana Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Alex Iwobi and James Garner all still in place, and both Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin requiring moves already, not to mention the conundrum that is Dele Alli, there are a lot of names in central positions.
Hopes were relatively high for a Warrington step up this year but amid the usual turnover and chaos at the club that opportunity looks to have been lost so it probably makes sense for him to make his next move now.
In other Everton news, a club have offered the Toffees their 44-goal striker in a swap deal for a Goodison ace who is for sale.
