Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin provides new injury update as he returns to training
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has provided fans with a fresh injury update from the club’s pre-season training camp in the Alps, via the club’s Youtube channel.
Calvert-Lewin has shared his summer routine as he worked through most of the summer break with his main desire to get back on the grass and restart full training to get himself fit and ready ahead of the new Premier League season.
He’s admitted his injury record has been frustrating, not just for himself but also for fans and others watching, as he wants to get back to the level he knows he is capable of doing on the pitch, on a more regular basis.

Speaking to Everton’s Youtube channel, Calvert-Lewin confessed: “I’ve been back in before the lads, so it’s not my first week [of pre-season], more like my third. Progressing really well and just building up to where I wanna be.
“I took it upon myself, obviously finished the season not how I wanted to finish it on a personal note, so it was a time to kind of reevaluate and start to build better foundations with my body, and an opportunity get some extra training in, extra work. I was there [Germany] for just over a week doing double sessions.
“I’ve worked pretty much all the way through the off-season. I tried to have a little rest, but for the most part, I just wanted to be running around and back on the grass. For me, it’s about getting back to a level I know I’m capable of getting to on a consistent basis.
“That’s been the frustrating thing for myself and everybody watching, because people know what I’m capable of doing on the pitch and they know I can affect games, and to not be able to do that consistently has been very frustrating.”

There is hope he will get back to his best
Everton’s main man had a frustrating season last time out by his own admission as well as everybody else. He managed just two goals from 17 appearances in the Premier League, and fell well short of his expected tally as the club’s number-one striker.
He will be just as desperate as the fans are to get back to the top of his game, and his pre-season preparations have shown how determined he is to revive his stalling career, with his training schedule providing a very positive update ahead of the new season.
Everton have been heavily linked to bringing in a new striker this summer, but if Calvert-Lewin can get back to his best and stay injury-free, they may have to settle for a role on the bench – or in a striker partnership which would certainly suit Jamie Vardy, who was linked to Everton today [Football Transfers, 12 July].
Calvert-Lewin will surely have his fingers crossed as tight as the fans do, as his return would be a huge step to the club avoiding another relegation battle this season.
In other Everton news, the club have been linked with a move for £35m Manchester United player.
