Dele Alli finished at Everton as Sean Dyche stance emerges

Everton flop Dele Alli will “never play again” at Goodison Park as he does not fit the profile of a Sean Dyche player, according to journalist Paul Brown.

After signing for the Toffees from Tottenham last year the 27-year-old has failed to live up to his potential, having never scored a competitive goal for Everton.

While Alli was signed by then-manager Frank Lampard, Sean Dyche’ is in the dugout means his career in Merseyside is looking more and more precarious.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown, who has written for the Daily Star, said: “I think he’ll be given a chance — the same as everyone else — but I’d find it frankly amazing if Dele Alli ever plays for Everton again. They’re on the hook for some more of his fee the more games that he plays and he really doesn’t feel like a Sean Dyche player to me.

“I cannot see Sean Dyche ever, if he had ever been in a position to, wanting to sign Dele Alli as a player for Everton or Burnley at all. He just doesn’t seem a good fit. I think Dyche would have concerns about his character.”

Square peg in a round hole

Following his drop in form in the 2021/22 season, Alli is a shadow of the player that lit the Premier League on fire under Mauricio Pochettino. His move to Everton has not given his career the intended boost Alli would have liked.

Under Lampard, he failed to show the creativity and flair that made him so appealing at Spurs, and following a poor spell at Besiktas, it is easy to feel bad for Alli. The Turkish club failed to activate their relatively low £8million option to buy Alli [The Athletic], showing how far he has fallen.

When Dyche came into the club, many predicted that the former MK Dons man would be unlikely to feature for the new manager. Dyche, seemed indifferent and concerned about Alli when he said back in April [Daily Mail]: “I’ve heard all the noise, I’ve heard all the opinions and I’m pretty sure that you’re aware that I like to make my own. But he needs to get fit.

“I’ve met him but I haven’t seen him train, I haven’t seen him play for Everton, I haven’t seen him train with us every day.”

Now that pre-season has begun, Dyche will have seen the former England star in training and will be assessing his options for his midfield. However, trust and faith in Alli is low and Dyche will be more likely to trust his other midfield options like Alex Iwobi or James Garner.

Alli may have become a square peg in a round hole at Goodison Park and with a hefty £100,000 reported weekly salary [Sport Witness], he will be difficult to shift off the wage bill.
