Everton free transfer mooted for former Liverpool player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

An Everton summer transfer has been mooted for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain by Liverpool World journalist Will Rooney.

The midfielder would be available for free having left Everton’s fierce rivals Liverpool earlier this summer upon the expiry of his contract.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 235 Premier League appearances throughout his career from his time at the Reds and Arsenal.

“The 29-year-old midfielder has departed Everton’s bitter rivals Liverpool and is available on a free transfer – although Aston Villa were rumoured to be his next destination earlier this summer while clubs in Saudi Arabia have also been mentioned,” Rooney wrote for Liverpool World.

Unlikely

Oxlade-Chamberlain should be desperate to get a fresh start in his career following a disappointing last couple of years at Liverpool, where injuries and a lack of form saw him spend the majority of his time watching on from the sidelines.

He has had an unfortunate time of it lately, but there is still hope that the 29-year-old can bounce back and enjoy a strong finish to his career.

It is, however, unlikely that it will come across Merseyside at Everton, with the midfielder set for plenty of backlash from Liverpool fans if he was to join their bitter rivals.

Despite his injury record, the former Gunners ace should have plenty of offers on the table this summer after leaving the Reds.
Clubs in the bottom half of the Premier League table like the Toffees could certainly do a lot worse than the former England international, who is capable of operating in central midfield or out wide.

In other Everton news, one proven Premier League goalscorer on the Toffees transfer shortlist has been told he can leave his current club.
