Gary Neville breaks down in tears in ‘Emotional’ chat with Everton ace Dele Alli

Manchester United legend Gary Neville broke down in tears during an “emotional” interview with Everton player Dele Alli.

The 27-year-old midfielder is back at the Merseyside outfit after spending last season on loan at Turkish club Besiktas.

But the player has endured various struggles both on and off the pitch in recent times, with Alli now sharing those struggles with ex-Manchester United man Neville, who labelled the interview “emotional” and “inspirational” on Twitter.

Speaking on The Overlap, Alli said: “When I came back from Turkey, I found out I needed an operation.

“I was in a bad place mentally and so I decided to go to a modern-day rehab facility for mental health. They do addiction, mental health and trauma. I felt like it was time for me.

“With things like that you can’t be told to go there, I think you have to know, and you have to make the decision yourself or else it’s not going to work.”

Hope for the future

Alli’s interview with Neville proves that the midfielder is in a better place, having endured a very difficult loan spell in Turkey not so long ago.

There still remain plenty of question marks regarding his future, both at Everton and in football in general, but this is definitely a positive step for the 27-year-old.

Hopefully it can help other footballers and indeed professional athletes discuss their personal issues more often, especially if they are struggling.

Alli is currently back at the Toffees on their pre-season trip to Switzerland, with hope now that he can get his career back on track and hit the ground running under Sean Dyche.

He was once one of the most promising young footballers in England, regularly playing well for Tottenham and shining for the England national team.

But that Alli has not been seen for quite some time, with Toffees fans desperate for the player to get back to his best next season.

In other Everton news, one proven Premier League goalscorer on the Toffees transfer shortlist has been told he can leave his current club.
