Everton blow transfer rivals out of water with mega bid to sign El Bilal Toure, deal expected within days

Almeria expect El Bilal Toure to leave them in the coming days with Everton bidding to sign the striker, according to IDEAL.

The Spanish news outlet reported on Friday night (14 July) that Atalanta have made an £18.3million bid to sign the 21-year-old Mali international. However, it is understood that Almeria want buying clubs to match his £34.3million release clause to sign their star man.

IDEAL claims that Everton have blown Atalanta’s bid out of the water by offering more for Toure. The Blues have reportedly offered £25.7million, which would be a club-record sale for Almeria.

It is claimed that the La Liga club still wants more money for Toure, wishing for an auction to drive up the price of the striker’s seemingly imminent transfer.

Is he worth it?

Toure is only 21 years old and last season he scored seven goals in 21 La Liga appearances for Almeria.

He scored against Atletico Madrid and Barcelona for two of those goals before an injury in March saw him miss two and a half months of action.

Toure joined Almeria from Stade Reims last summer, signing a six-year contract and costing them around £8.5million.

The Spaniards have the chance to make a huge profit on that deal based on the numbers floating around at the minute – with it looking more likely they might receive the value of his release clause.

If Everton and Atalanta keep having bids rejected and keep pushing their offers up, it might not be long before someone bites the bullet and offers the £34.3million that Almeria want.

But is Toure worth that?

For Everton, it seems like a massive risk and it doesn’t seem like the kind of signing that Sean Dyche would make.

Kevin Thelwell is likely pushing this one but what are the chances that he shines in the Premier League? Everton probably aren’t in the position to start banking on young players coming good in a few years’ time.
