Sean Dyche spotted watching pre-season game as journalist speculates his reason for attending
Broadcaster Ian Abrahams was at Northampton vs Birmingham on Wednesday, where he spotted Everton manager Sean Dyche in attendance, leading him to speculate his reasons behind being at the game on Twitter.
The talkSPORT commentator, known as Moose, suggested via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday [19 July] that Dyche may be attending the game to cast an eye over a potential Everton signing, speculating “wonder who he’s watching”, but was quickly addressed by fans – Dyche’s son, Max Dyche, plays for Northampton Town.
While it would have been fun to imagine Dyche was in attendance as he had found a hidden gem to bring back with him to Goodison Park, it appears his reasons for attending were perfectly mundane – although not confirmed, so he may well have been keeping an eye out for talent.
Everton need players and need them fast
Everton risk falling behind in the transfer market, having signed just one player this summer – 38-year-old Ashley Young on a free transfer. Despite news in recent hours of Arnaud Danjuma’s impending arrival, Everton will still need to strengthen their squad further.
If there is a chance that Dyche was in Northampton to scout a possible signing, it would be a good display that Everton are trying to push ahead with possible moves in this transfer window.

Everton are far from the only Premier League club to lack an abundance of signings this summer but will need to strengthen their squad before the deadline if they wish to avoid another relegation scrap.
The Toffees are in need of another striker to compete with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, at least one winger as Dwight McNeil and Demarai Gray are the only recognised wide men at the club, and are also targeting a central defender.
In other Everton news, the club are looking to do a deal to sign Ajax forward.
