Everton striker hunt update drops as Fabrizio Romano shares transfer latest

Everton remain interested in Almeria striker El Bilal Toure, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist provided an update on the in-demand 21-year-old’s future via Twitter (23 July).

Serie A side Atalanta have identified the Mali international as a top target and negotiations are ongoing between the Italian outfit and Almeria.

Atalanta are keen on getting the signing across the line with Manchester United expected to bid for their striker Rasmus Hojlund soon, though the Toffees still hold an interest.

Race against time

If Everton are serious about the signing of forward Toure then they will need to act fast.

Atalanta are clearly keen on getting a deal across the line and the Toffees can’t afford to wait around for too long otherwise they will miss out on their target.

Sean Dyche’s men are in desperate need of some firepower going forward after finishing as the Premier League’s second-lowest scorers last season and almost being relegated as a result.

Toure could certainly help the club turn their goalscoring fortunes around. His seven goals and two assists last season helped Almeria to avoid relegation by just one point.

His goalscoring return in a team struggling at the wrong end of the table is promising. Atalanta might be an attractive prospect to the striker due to their ability to offer European football, but the chance to play in the Premier League could sway Toure’s decision and convince him to move to Goodison Park.

Everton need to act fast.

In other Everton news, a first-team signing is expected to arrive imminently.
