Everton investigation may see transfer twist at Goodison Park – Finance Guru

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton

Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton may have their Profit and Sustainability investigation on their minds as they navigate through the transfer window.

It has been shared that the Toffees will target more free agents after the arrival of Ashley Young, with Arnaut Danjuma since arriving on loan too.

The finance guru shared that the upcoming case hearing in October could effect the club and their ability to splash big cash in the summer window.

“Again, it comes back to the wider challenges the club has still got,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“They have stayed up which is great but with the owner, investment and stadium situation and of course, the pending FFP investigation, we were never likely to see Everton splash out in the transfer market.

I don’t think it will play out like that even as we move towards the end of the window. We’ve already seen a couple out rather than in, and looking at the position moving forward, how does that squad not be in the position it was in April, next April?

It is looking like it may be a similar squad so Sean Dyche is looking like he has a big job on his hands so there are some concerns with finance that Everton have to work through. The movement in the transfer market would suggest that they may have the case in mind with FFP.”

Given very little money has been spent, the arrivals of Young and Danjuma will delight Dyche as he looks to improve the club from the top to the bottom.

Until everything is ironed out with this case, the new stadium and new investment, big changes are set to be unlikely, although many will have big hopes.
