Everton news as sources respond to Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer update
Everton are aware of AS Roma’s interest in striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin but have no plans to let him depart Goodison Park this summer, according to iNews.
The Toffees have been attempting to reinforce their attacking options in the transfer window, leaving the Serie A side to register an interest in signing the former Barnsley striker on an initial loan deal, with an obligation to buy.
Jose Mourinho’s side are set to begin the season without Tammy Abraham as he recovers from a serious injury, and they view Calvert-Lewin as an ideal replacement with a similar profile of the pair.

Discussing the Toffees stance on any possible deal, Mark Douglas wrote: “i understands Everton are “aware” of interest in Calvert-Lewin but have no interest in loaning out one of their key strikers.
“A Toffees source said the forward remained “very much part of the club’s plans” and efforts are focused on recruiting players capable of easing the goalscoring burden on Calvert-Lewin rather than selling their senior striker.
“Any proposal from Italy would initially be a loan move with possible sporting obligations built into it – such as playing a percentage of games or Roma qualifying for the Champions League.”
A sensible call
While the last two seasons have been very difficult for both Everton and Calvert-Lewin, they have made the right call in ensuring that he stays at Goodison beyond this summer as otherwise they would once again be leaving themselves short.
The whole point of this transfer window was to add to the number of goals the Toffees were able to score, especially having been one of the two lowest scorers in the division last season (only beaten by Wolves).

Calvert-Lewin struggled for fitness all season, only making 17 league appearances and scoring twice, but with Arnaut Danjuma through the door at Goodison and more strikers reportedly on their way in the next few weeks, he should be able to manage his workload a bit better this season.
Furthermore, the Toffees have invested time and resources into the forward this summer, with a strength and conditioning programme that should hopefully see him dodge his previous injury woes, hence why he has yet to play in pre-season.
Hopefully, he can come back stronger than ever and rediscover the form that made him one of the best strikers in the division only a few seasons ago.
