Everton dismiss rumours linking Dominic Calver-Lewin with a move to Roma
Everton have dismissed rumours linking their first-choice striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin with a move to Italy to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma side, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper shared overnight on 26 July via their website that contrary to reports in Italy, the Toffees have no desire to let Calvert-Lewin leave at this stage, as they look to strengthen their squad rather than deplete it.
Mourinho is keen to being in a tall striker to play alongside Paulo Dybala in the coming season after Tammy Abraham and Andrea Belotti managed just three goals between them last time out, and has also been targeting a move for West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca.

Can’t afford to let him go
Everton can’t afford to let more strikers leave the club this summer, with their primary target for the transfer window being to strengthen their forward line, which will include having quality strength in depth should rotation be necessary, whether it’s planned or forced.
Roma’s strikers have had much the same issues as Everton’s this season, with Belotti and Abraham matching the pitiful goals tally of Calvert-Lewin and Neal Maupay, so it makes sense why they would want to bring in a proven striker.
The report shares that Calvert-Lewin has been targeted by the Italian club as Mourinho wants a tall striker to replicate the role Mario Madzukic played with Roma’s Dybala when the two spent time at Juventus together.

Everton’s targeting of strikers this summer has been partly down to the inconsistent injury record of the England international, having spent large spells of last season on the treatment table.
In the coming season though, DCL is prepared to play a big role in helping the club to avoid another relegation scrap, as he revealed how he has been working throughout the summer to return in the best possible shape for his boss.
In other Everton news, the BBC have reported Everton will be looking for double transfer swoop after landing Danjuma.
