Preston North End hoping for some positive news this in Tom Cannon pursuit
Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has said that he is hoping for some positive news this week, as he aims to bring Everton striker Tom Cannon back to Deepdale on loan, via the Liverpool World.
The young Everton forward is a target for a number of Championship clubs this summer, having impressed on loan with Lowe’s side last season, with Sunderland, Stoke City and Birmingham also registering an interest.
But the former Plymouth Argyle manager is hoping that North End will win the race for the 20-year-old’s signature, however, he isn’t getting drawn into any of the speculation occupying social media and gossip columns as the rumour mill continues to turn.

Discussing the current situation, Will Rooney wrote: “Cannon was absent for both of last weekend’s double-header against Wigan and Tranmere with a knock. However, he was spotted watching Preston as they took on Aberdeen on the same day.”
Lowe was then quoted offering an update saying: “I love not being on social media, I don’t get bombarded. We need a couple more in the door but we’re working, not round the clock because I like my sleep, but we’re working hard to get them done.
“Hopefully we’ll get a bit of news towards the weekend, but as long as we’ve got them in for the first game of the season, I’ll be happy.”
Preston a known fit
There will be so many factors that come into Everton’s decision-making when choosing Cannon’s destination this season, but surely, Deepdale and a reunion with Lowe would be the ideal choice for all parties.
Preston have few obvious forward options this season coming season, with Emil Riis and Will Keane their only senior forwards as Ched Evans continues his recovery from a serious injury at the end of last season.

Cannon would be able to arrive and immediately pick up where he left off last year, continuing his development that pushed his game on leaps and bounds last season. It would also be beneficial for North End as it would push them closer to the play-off places, with a player who could possibly be a 20-goal-a-season striker.
There have been rumours suggesting that Riis may depart Deepdale this summer and Cannon is remarkably similar in profile to the Denmark forward, meaning that the Everton striker couldn’t be a better fit for Lowe’s side.
It remains to be seen where he ends up this summer, if anywhere other than Goodison at all, but for our money, we’d pick Deepdale.
