FC Midtjylland stance on Emiliano Martinez emerges amid Everton and West Ham United links
FC Midtjylland are unwilling to sanction the sale of midfielder Emiliano Martinez this summer amid Everton and West Ham links.
According to the Liverpool Echo [27 July], who quote Midtjylland chief Svend Graversen speaking to a Nordic TV channel, the Uruguay international will be staying put at the Danish club despite the interest shown in him.
Sport 890 journalist Rodri Vázquez reported that the Toffees have already made an opening bid for the 23-year-old midfielder ahead of a potential move this summer and West Ham are also keen on signing him.

Graversen said, “We brought him in last year, and we are happy that he is already in demand.
“He has to come in and perform for us. It is clear that when you have already earned yourself the attention of bigger clubs, it is a positive thing.
“But in the end, it is all about him performing. We must have a sporting benefit from the impact he can have. So he stays here.”
Move on
It’s pretty clear that the Danish club are not willing to let go of the central midfielder without putting up a fight.
This usually means the buying club ends up paying far more than they possibly should’ve otherwise to get a new signing over the line.
Martinez was at Brentford and did not particularly do a stellar job there so there’s very little justification to go all out to sign him.

The Toffees may need another midfielder, contingent on exits, but their priority is in the final third and signing a new striker.
After that, they’re very likely to look at a new centre-back and maybe a new left-back – depending on what Sean Dyche sees Ashley Young doing.
It seems highly unlikely that Martinez will be ending up at Goodison Park this summer.
In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
