Everton winger Stanley Mills seals Goodison Park exit for Oxford United

Everton winger Stanley Mills, who can also play in midfield, will feature for Oxford United next season after leaving Goodison Park on loan.

The Toffees, confirmed via their official website on 27 July, that the 19-year-old will leave for the League One club in order to continue his development.

He is understood to be highly rated among the hierarchy at Goodison Park with director of football Kevin Thelwell also waxing lyrical over him.

He said, “Stan has made encouraging progress through our Academy, resulting in competitive action and training sessions with our Men’s Senior Team.

“His move to Oxford United is his first loan switch and will provide him with vital experience in League One to support the next phase of his development.”

Good move

Mills has already made his senior debut with two appearances for the first team so it’s pretty clear that he’s rated as among the best academy prospects at the club.

He did well for the reserves as well as he was the top scorer for Paul Tait’s Under-21s last season, netting 10 Premier League 2 goals, as well as bagging three goals in four EFL Trophy games.

His versatility is another aspect of his game that the Toffees will be impressed with and that’s perhaps why selling him permanently is not an option.

Hopefully, he matures into a player ready to be on the matchday squad for the senior side from the 2024/25 campaign.

Sean Dyche will certainly like a hard-working youngster who’s willing to run the hard yards and also got an exceptional end product.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
