Jamie Carragher takes aim at Jordan Pickford with bizarre jibe about Everton keeper
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher hasn’t held back with his thoughts on Jordan Pickford after aiming a jibe at the Everton keeper.
In an appearance on the Scouse House podcast on 27 July, the former Reds defender, who grew up as a Toffees fan, discussed some of his gripes about goalkeepers.
This led to Carragher mentioning Pickford, with the Sky Sports pundit bizarrely saying he would probably end up in a fight with the England international if they played in the same team together.

“Then goalkeepers coming out screaming and shouting when they have to make a save,” said Carragher. “Could you imagine having to play in front of Jordan Pickford?
“I watch him now for Sky and I’m like honest to god, me and him would just be boxing every game. Get back in goal and shut up! Honest to god!”
Part of his game
It would no doubt be tricky trying to stay level-headed around Pickford sometimes with the intensity he brings and how he is always in his defenders’ ears.
But that is a huge part of the keeper’s game and it has proven to be successful for him – it’s almost as if he has to be like that to remain focused and get the best out of himself.
There are times when it has perhaps boiled over, but if you take that away from him then you lose a strong voice organising the defence and it could have an impact on his personal performance.

Everton fans and Sean Dyche will love to see a player like him showing so much passion out on the pitch, so it’s probably something they aren’t really too worried about.
Carragher probably wouldn’t benefit from playing with a keeper like Pickford every week, but fortunately for him and the England shot-stopper, his playing days are long behind him.
