Everton and Leeds United have made contact to sign Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano while Newcastle dropped out of the race, claim W Deportes.

According to the Mexican radio station [27 July], he’s wanted in Saudi Arabia as well but a move to the United States looks to be on the cards.

It’s understood that he’s leaning towards joining Los Angeles FC so a decision could be made very soon on the Mexico international’s, 27, future.

This is time for Everton to step in and offer the lure of the Premier League as the bargaining chip to get him to pick them over a move to the MLS.

That’s a league where players go to spend the final years of their career and at 27, it can be argued that he’s at the peak of his powers currently.

His career may have taken a downturn in recent seasons, but there’s no reason to think why he cannot rekindle it in the Premier League.

The pace of the English top flight may work to his benefit and he could enjoy the attacking nature of it as well.

Signing him would also transform the Toffees attack in a way, especially if they don’t sign an out-and-out number nine.

Sean Dyche has used Arnaut Danjuma as a striker in pre season and if Lozano plays on the left, the two can keep interchanging positions.

Dwight McNeil and Alex Iwobi, the other two wide attackers are also capable of playing on either flank and it would be a much more fluid front three should Lozano be signed.

Fans will undoubtedly not be fans of Dyche’s route one style of play with a big target man so this would be a refreshing change even for them.
