Exclusive: Everton may have to pay £21.4m to land Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto

Everton may have to pay as much as £21.4million if they are to secure the services of Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto, Dominik Schneider exclusively tells Goodison News.

The Fussball Transfers journalist took to Twitter [28 July] to report that the Toffees were in talks to sign the Brazilian forward, 22.

He also claimed that it would require a high transfer fee to lure him away from the South American club this summer.

He told Goodison News, “He still has a very long contract with Corinthians. And 50% of the transfer fee goes to Zenit.

But 20-25 million euro (£21.4million) would probably be realistic and he would also be a record sale for Corinthians.”

The Toffees are desperate to sign a striker this summer, having failed to bring a new one through the door in January.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s lack of fitness and faltering form saw them recall Ellis Simms from loan and he led the line on a few occasions last season.

Demarai Gray was also tasked with the job of playing as the lone striker with Neal Maupay not performing after being given chances in the playing eleven.

Everton

Alberto only recently moved to Corinthians from Zenit so they could be reluctant to let go of him so quickly.

However, things might change if the 22-year-old forces their hand and demands an exit from the Brazilian side this summer.

Zenit were aware of his potential and that’s why they put such a hefty sell-on clause when they sanctioned his exit in January 2023.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
