Everton defender Seamus Coleman to be out until early August – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton defender Seamus Coleman may sustain flare-ups that could keep him out until early August, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert reacts after the Republic of Ireland international missed the end of last season due to a knee injury that was not ACL related.

BBC pundit Michael Brown felt when the injury happened that he may miss a significant amount of game time as it could be an ACL rupture.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said, “The updates I’ve seen still have him on course for that timeline of returning by early August before the season begins.

If there are delays, it’s typically due to some discomfort or pain flare-up after increasing activity intensity and duration which is certainly possible.

In that case, you ramp it back down and then build it back up again.”

Even though Coleman will be turning 35 this winter, the Toffees made the decision to hand their captain a new contract at the club.

Last season, despite his age, the Everton skipper was one of the first names on the team sheet for Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche.

However, his injuries restricted him to just making 23 Premier League appearances for the Toffees in the 2022/23 campaign.

He will be remembered for the famous goal he scored against Leeds United which played a huge role in keeping them in the top flight.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
