Everton handed double transfer boost as Leicester City transfer news emerges

Everton are seemingly chasing a striker in the summer transfer window, with Sean Dyche’s pursuit of one such player becoming increasingly clear.

Goals were in short supply at the Merseyside club last season, with the Toffees only just managing to stay in the Premier League amid their lack of success in the final third.

Plenty of forwards have been linked with a move to Goodison Park, with the club having already strengthened in that area through the loan signature of Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal.

Despite largely playing centrally last season, the attacker could be used out wide by Dyche at his temporary club, meaning the Toffees boss could still be in the market for a striker.

Even if Danjuma adopts a centre-forward role, Everton could yet try and ease their struggles with another signing in that area.

And they have been given a double boost in that regard as newly-relegated Leicester City have snapped up forward Stephy Mavididi from Montpellier, as per the official Foxes website (31 July).

The signature of the 25-year-old may just result in one striker leaving the King Power Stadium this summer, and both Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho have been mentioned when it comes to Everton’s new attacking options.

As per Football Transfers (12 July), the former is on the shortlist of Dyche this summer, while BBC Sport reported on 30 July that Everton have a “mild interest” in the latter.

Leicester’s move for Mavididi, who can play centrally or out wide like Danjuma, can surely only mean that either Vardy or Iheanacho – or both – will exit the Foxes before the transfer window is brought to a close.

Both strikers would massively improve Dyche’s starting XI next season, particularly if Dominic Calvert-Lewin is deemed unfit when Everton get proceedings underway at home to Fulham on 12 August.

In other Everton news, one Toffees player is “pushing” for an exit as a Premier League rival haggles over his £10million transfer fee.
