Everton medical update shared in Youseff Chermiti transfer push by Sky Sports’ Alan Myers
Youseff Chermiti is due to have a medical at Everton in the “next couple of days” and the striker’s transfer is “all going well”, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist shared via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon (1 August) that the Sporting forward should be signed in time to face his current club in the Toffees’ upcoming friendly.
The two sides meet on Saturday (5 August) and 19-year-old Chermiti now looks set to be in the other squad now ahead of the new season.
Myers wrote on Twitter: “Medical expected in next couple of days, in time for Saturday’s game v Sporting, all going well.”
An up-front fee of £12.8million is on the cards for the teenage Portuguese forward, after Everton beat Wolves and Bournemouth to reach an agreement with Sporting.
Developing
After only becoming public via Fabrizio Romano on Monday (31 July) it looks like this transfer is moving swiftly as Sean Dyche looks to strengthen in the final days before the new season kicks off.
Suggestions of surprise on Chermiti’s part from Portugal had raised a slight doubt over his interest in a move but that appears to have been assuaged with the latest developments.
With less than a full season of senior football under his belt and only three goals for Sporting on his record he is surely not the answer that Everton have been crying out for over the past year, but for the money involved he should be in line to contribute.

If he proves to be a revelation then it would be a huge bonus, and he appears to have the physical stature to fill in for Dominic Calvert-Lewin if necessary, at six foot four.
But things would still look far more comfortable if a senior option can be added to the ranks as well, with Dyche still pressing to bring one in.
Arnaut Danjuma’s arrival is a positive but only really substitutes for Demarai Gray’s expected exit, so multiple attacking recruits are still on the agenda.
In other Everton news, the club could finally be about to shift some “deadwood” from the squad as transfer interest is developing from two countries.
