Everton transfer news as Sean Dyche pushes for Youssef Chermiti deal

Everton manager Sean Dyche has urged club officials to make an effort to sign Sporting striker Youssef Chermiti, according to O Jogo.

The 19-year-old Portuguese forward is subject to “advanced” negotiations between the two sides over a £12.8million deal after they reached a verbal agreement [Fabrizio Romano, 31 July] and according to O Jogo (1 August, page 10), Dyche is highly appreciative of his qualities and is urging the club to secure his signature.

Chermiti is said to be a small step away from fulfilling his dream of playing in the Premier League and Everton are pushing to provide him with that platform.

With the teenager only breaking into the senior team last season the Toffees are still believed to be pressing to sign a more senior striking option to go alongside him before the start of the new campaign.

Excellent business

Snapping up Chermiti for a fee of around £12.8million when his release clause at the Portuguese outfit is said to be around £69m is absolutely excellent business from Everton.

Chermiti is no small talent either. The 19-year-old enjoyed a superb breakout campaign for Sporting last season and has picked up the reputation in becoming one of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects.

Everton

Possessing tremendous technical qualities, bullish attributes, speed, and a maturity in his game that belies his tender years, Chermiti was always set to achieve his Premier League before long and it is mightily impressive that Everton have stolen a march for his services.

At 19 and with just three senior goals to his name there will be question marks than there were over the push for 21-year-old Bilal Touré from Almeria, in terms of how quickly he could adapt to the Premier League.

However, that shouldn’t matter as this is a move with the future of the club in mind, any sort of recruitment strategy should always be admired, no matter the risk.

If Dyche can acquire another more senior striker to go alongside Chermiti then it would be a successful attacking recruitment from Everton so far this summer.
