Everton want to sign Southampton forward Kamaldeen Sulemana amid Willy Gnonto twist at Leeds – Sky Sports

Everton are looking into a loan move for Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster reported via their live transfer blog on Tuesday evening (1 August, 07:45pm) that the Blues could back out of a move to sign Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto after having a number of advances rebuffed by the Championship club.

It is understood that as Sean Dyche looks to add to his attack at Everton, the Toffees could revisit their interest in Sulemana after they initially tried to sign the 21-year-old in January when he was at Rennes.

Sulemana opted to join Southampton in the winter but was relegated from the Premier League and now, Everton “are looking at” a loan move for the Ghana international.

Worth it?

Southampton paid £21.4million to sign Sulemana in January but the Ghanaian ultimately failed to keep them in the Premier League.

He scored two goals in his 18 Premier League appearances for the Saints but both of those goals came on the final day of the season in a 4-4 draw with Liverpool at St Mary’s.

Sulemana can play up front or as a left-winger – two areas Everton really could do with adding some strength in depth.

Southampton could be open to loaning out the ex-Rennes star.

He’s no doubt earning a lot of money for a Championship player and for him, he didn’t move to England to play in the second tier.

It’s likely that a move to Goodison would intrigue Sulemana, so it’s worth Everton following up their interest in the Ghana international with an offer.

On the other hand, Gnonto would be an amazing signing but it’s unlikely that Leeds are going to let him go for anything near what we can afford this summer thanks to FFP issues.
