Everton signing Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi makes sense despite Sky Sports interview revelation – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton must consider signing Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi despite his prior injury nightmares, believes Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has reacted to the transfer links with the 22-year-old who appears to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

90min reported on 15 July that the Toffees were ready to sell him with the London club willing to cash in on his services.

The Englishman famously spoke about his injury woes with Sky Sports back in February and revealed the challenges he’s faced and how he overcame them to re-establish his career.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said,

As he mentions in the interview with Sky Sports, he had multiple knock-on effects from his Achilles rupture which are painful – he says even to this day – and that isn’t uncommon because of the severity of the injury and also its impact on a player’s fitness and confidence, particularly for a younger player.

Going to play for a manager like Xabi Alonso who understands those aspects of a player and encouraged Hudson-Odoi to play with more confidence was arguably the perfect match for him.

If he’s available for a reasonable fee, a move would make sense in my opinion.

Chelsea have a number of unwanted players this summer and are keen on getting rid of them as Mauricio Pochettino looks to build a new team.

Hudson-Odoi was even left out of the pre-season squad so it’s evident that he’s not in the Argentine’s plans for the upcoming season.

It remains to be seen if an offer from the Toffees arrives as there are a number of clubs linked with securing his services this summer.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
