Alan Myers issues Youssef Chermiti to Everton transfer update with clarification issued

There is no hold up in the deal for Everton to secure the services of Sporting CP striker Youssef Chermiti this summer, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist wrote on Twitter on Thursday (3 August) that everything is on track for the Toffees to secure the signing of the 19-year-old Portuguese forward.

O Jogo. reported in their print edition on 2 August (Page 11) that Chermiti had turned down an opening offer from the Toffees and a move was not as close as understood.

Myers wrote on Twitter, “That’s what I hear,” when asked if everything was on track.

“No hold up, just getting it done.”

Great news

By the looks of it, Cherimiti will be the third summer signing for Everton after they brought in Arnaut Danjuma and Ashley Young.

One was a free transfer and the other one was a loan so no transfer fees have been shelled out yet for a new signing.

Chermiti, despite his age, appears to be brought in to lead the line and probably be the first choice option for the Toffees.

Whether or not he is thrown into the eleven right from the off, remains to be seen but there is a feeling he could be eased into it.

Hopefully, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is ready to play in the first few games and if he does not deliver, he’s got someone young and hungry ready to take his place.

Everton fans have every reason to hold their horses as it’s not done until it’s done and things can change at any time.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
