Everton determined to unveil Chermiti signing to fans on Saturday, medical soon

Everton are determined to unveil the signing of Youssef Chermiti when the club face Sporting Lisbon on 5 August, according to Correio de Manha.

The Portuguese newspaper reported on page 16 of its print edition on 3 August that the 19-year-old is set to undergo his medical ahead of his move from Sporting to Goodison Park in the next 24 hours.

It said the club hoped to have the Portuguese in place ahead of the game at the weekend, but that he has rejected the Toffees’ first salary offer.

Edging closer

It appears as though Everton’s long pursuit of a new striker is coming to an end as Chermiti’s move from Sporting is edging closer to being finalised.

But the newspaper’s report notes that there are a few hurdles to overcome yet, with the player still to agree terms on his salary and a medical to be conducted.

The fact that the club are, however, looking to have him in place for the pre-season friendly against the Primeira Liga side shows that they are confident of getting the deal over the line before too long.

Depending on how quickly they can get the deal done, it may be unlikely that he will feature in the game on Saturday and ironically line up against his former teammates.

The 6’4″ teenager broke into the Sporting team last season and scored three goals and laid on two assists in 22 appearances, so he will be hoping to build on that tally in a Blues shirt in the upcoming campaign [Transfermarkt].
