Everton target Amad Diallo is set to stay at Manchester United after knee injury

Everton target Amad Diallo is set to stay at Manchester United this season after suffering a knee injury, ruling out a potential move away from the club, according to The Athletic.

It is reported that tests have revealed Diallo will miss the first part of the season due to his injury, amid interest from a number of European clubs in a loan move for the winger.

Everton were first linked with a possible move for Diallo by 90min on 15 June, as it was reported the Merseyside club would rival Premier League sides Burnley, West Ham and Fulham for his signature after an impressive loan spell at Sunderland.

While the knee injury he has suffered is serious enough to rule him out of a move away from Manchester this month, it is not thought to be one that will keep him out for most of the season, more just the initial stages.

Diallo would have improved Everton’s attacking output as the club search for a new source of goals, having managed just 34 last season – the second-worst in the Premier League. The winger managed to score 14 and assist three in last season’s Championship campaign.

Everton are continuing their search for attackers in this transfer window after the club look set to seal a deal to bring Sporting forward Youssef Chermiti to the club, while they may miss out on another stand-out player from last season’s Championship campaign as Sheffield United have begun talks with Chuba Akpom [Alan Nixon].

If Everton lose Demarai Gray this summer as expected, they will be left short on the wings, with Dwight McNeil and Arnaut Danjuma the only options. This should prompt the club to return to the transfer market in search of new options, having now missed out on Diallo.
