Everton transfer news as Youssef Chermiti misses Sporting CP training today
Everton transfer target Youssef Chermiti has missed training with Sporting CP as he approaches a move to Merseyside, according to Record.
The Portuguese newspaper has reported on its website [3 August] that the striker was present at the club’s training ground, but only to collect his belongings ahead of a move away from the club after Everton agreed on a fee to bring him to England.
It was shared that the striker missed training as manager Ruben Amorim no longer considers him a part of his plans, with the transfer deal drawing closer, and has been replaced in the training sessions by 18-year-old Rodrigo Ribeiro.

Finally getting the deal over the line
Since Everton agreed a fee with Sporting to bring Chermiti to the club, there have been reports suggesting complications in the deal, with Chermiti asking the club to move quicker in their talks [O Jogo, 3 August], and suggestions that the wage on offer was not adequate [O Jogo, 2 August].
The Merseyside club were crying out for a new striker this summer after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues and Neal Maupay’s profligacy in front of goal, targeting several new forwards before finally agreeing a fee for Chermiti.
Everton had missed out on deals for El Bilal Toure, Viktor Gyokeres and Illiman Ndiaye already this summer, and would have been keen to get this one over the line as soon as possible.

Reports now suggest the Toffees will still look to bring in another striker after his arrival, as they look to improve on the 34 goals scored last season, the second-lowest in the Premier League, and steer themselves away from another relegation battle.
