St Johnstone make decision over potential transfer of Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango

Scottish club St Johnstone have rejected the chance to sign Everton midfielder Tyler Onyango this summer, according to the Courier.

The British media outlet claimed on its website on Friday (4 August) that Johnstone will not be making a move for the 20-year-old.

The Englishman, who’s made four senior appearances for the Toffees and his debut under Carlo Ancelotti, is also wanted by EFL clubs, per the Liverpool Echo.

Sell him?

The Echo article above reveals that Ancelotti along with Rafa Benitez thought extremely highly of Onyango and almost were convinced that he would become a first-team player.

He spent last season on loan at Burton Albion and Forest Green Rovers and did not make enough of an impression for Sean Dyche to consider giving him a chance in the senior setup.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Toffees will look to sell him or allow him to leave on loan just to get senior appearances.

At 20, it might be too early to write off a player and unless the offer is too good to turn down, there’s every chance that he’s allowed to leave on loan.

With St Johnstone out of the race, it remains to be seen which club ends up making a move for him this summer.

The Toffees do appear slightly short in midfield but the Englishman does not appear to be the solution to their problems in that department.

In exclusive Everton news, the Toffees now have to pay £21.4m to land a Brazilian striker to lead their line for next season.
