Everton hit by transfer blow as Goodison Park-linked Charles De Ketelaere update emerges

Everton need a few more new faces in the door this summer if they are to have any hope of avoiding a third successive Premier League relegation battle.

Veteran Ashley Young and forward Arnaut Danjuma have already been brought in this summer, with the former arriving on a free transfer and the latter joining on a season-long loan deal from Villarreal.

They will definitely help Sean Dyche in his quest for some stability in the Goodison Park dugout, but more help will be needed next season, particularly given the business of many of the clubs who could be fighting for relegation.

One player that the Toffees had been linked with in recent times was AC Milan ace Charles De Ketelaere, with Pianeta Milan (4 July) reporting that Everton were among the clubs keen on a loan deal with the player for the new season.

But the Merseyside club have now been handed a major blow in that regard, with journalist Rudy Galetti (6 August) reporting that the player has agreed to join Serie A club Atalanta.

The Belgian international struggled in his one and only season at AC Milan following his move from Club Brugge last summer, with the midfielder failing to score from his 40 matches in all competitions.

But there is still plenty of hope that the 22-year-old can recover from that stumble and get back on his once-exciting career path.

Unfortunately for Dyche, that will not be at Goodison Park, meaning the Toffees will have to look elsewhere for a creative spark before the new season gets underway.

In other Everton news, Dyche has hinted at the latest Goodison Park exit as the club’s 2023/24 squad numbers are confirmed.
