Additional payments on cards at Everton for Bill Kenwright – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton

Dan Plumley has insisted that Bill Kenwright potentially leaving Everton will likely take their compensation payouts up to and beyond £10million.

The Esk initially reported on 20 July that it cost the club £7million to part ways with Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Grant Ingles and Graeme Sharp, which will be confirmed in the next accounts.

Kenwright ended up staying on at Goodison Park for now, despite suggestions that he was expected to follow them out to welcome new investment [The Guardian].

“You would imagine so,” he exclusively told Goodison News when asked if it would go beyond £10m.

“If it was £7million for three, take that as a rough average and add a little bit on for Kenwright because of his position, again it is slight speculation but it stands to reason.

That is going to be an additional cost that needs to be covered, and if you’re going to go through that boardroom shake-up, you’re going to have to be aware that there is potentially cost in that.”

MSP Sports Capital has still not had their investment in Everton confirmed yet, despite months of talks, so there could be more movement on the future of Kenwright once that happens.

With a new Premier League season now only days away, there are still dark clouds over Goodison Park that need to be resolved sooner rather than later.
