Sky Sports presenter expresses doubts about Everton chances in Premier League

Dougie Critchley has expressed doubts about the chances of Everton staying up in the Premier League ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The Sky Sports presenter tweeted on 8 August that he expects Burnley, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest to finish well clear of relegation this season.

But he added that he is “far more worried” about more established sides like Everton, Wolves and Fulham as the start of the new season is now just a couple of days away.

Signings needed

There is no real knowing how Everton will get on in the upcoming campaign until the season kicks off and the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

It’s been Sean Dyche’s first crack at a pre-season having joined the club in January and, after doing an incredible job to keep the club up in the last campaign, he may have them in good shape as they prepare to host Fulham on 12 August.

But the lack of signings is slightly alarming so there is cause for concern and it’s no surprise to see people putting them in the frame for another relegation battle.

Everton

Alongside the Toffees, Critchley highlighted two other clubs that have had issues this summer that he’s fearful for after Julen Lopetegui left Wolves on 8 August and Fulham have also had some issues going on behind the scenes.

There hasn’t quite been those kind of problems going on at Goodison Park, but the club do need to get some more signings through the door to ensure they’re not trying to fight off relegation again this time around.

In other Everton news, a defender looks set to be heading out of the club on loan.
