Winner named in Everton race to sign Dan Ndoye as agreement in principle reached – Gianluca Di Marzio
Everton are set to miss out in their attempts to sign FC Basel forward Dan Ndoye, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Sky Sports Italy journalist reported on 7 August that the Toffees had made an effort to bring the Swiss striker to Goodison Park, but that Serie A side Bologna have a “broad agreement” in place to sign him for £9.5million plus add-ons.
He said the 22-year-old would “prefer an intermediate step” before making a move to the Premier League and wants to work with Bologna coach Thiago Motta.

Slight disappointment
It will be disappointing for Everton to learn that Ndoye has chosen to sign for Bologna after it had previously looked as though they were in a decent position to land him.
But with Youssef Chermiti looking set to join the club, it would perhaps have been a bit of a risk to sign another young forward that doesn’t have any Premier League experience.
He didn’t exactly light up the Swiss Super League last season, having scored four goals and laid on one assist in 32 league matches.

He has so far only made one appearance for the national team since making his debut against Spain in September 2022, so he doesn’t have too much top-level experience.
This seems like a deal that the Toffees may be thankful that they didn’t complete in the future, as the player seems to want to go elsewhere and he doesn’t seem ready to play Premier League football.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are eyeing a shock move for an English forward.
