Alan Myers shares Everton Gnonto verdict, not dealing with novices
Everton still have a way to go in their pursuit of Willy Gnonto, with Leeds United owners 49ers Enterprises, not novices who will be forced into a move, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist shared via Twitter on 10 August that he “wouldn’t imagine” the Leeds owners would be forced to do anything they don’t want to do after their experience running the extremely successful San Francisco 49ers American Football team.
Myers claimed in a later tweet, responding to a fan who stated the players in these situations usually gets what they want, that he knows of a few players who haven’t, and clarified that he is trying to calm expectations around the move as there is still a way to go.
Don’t get carried away
It seems that the overall message from Myers is not to get carried away. The initial tweet suggesting negotiations may still be difficult, and later playing down the impact of player power, should ease expectations among fans despite the excitement of agreeing on personal terms with their top target [Fabrizio Romano].
There is a reason, however, why Everton fans are so excited. A 19-year-old with Premier League experience, who brings flair and direct play to the team, and will be able to fill two of the club’s problem positions at striker and out wide, Gnonto looks like the perfect new addition.

Sean Dyche has been keen to improve his side up front as they had the second-worst goal tally in the Premier League last season with 34, and the current forward options both have their drawbacks.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is injury prone and can’t necessarily be relied upon for a full season, while Neal Maupay is inconsistent in front of goal. With the imminent arrival of Sporting striker Youssef Chermiti, and now Gnonto, Everton finally look like they will take a step forwards.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has shared another striker update with a bid 100% made.
