Everton in advanced talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike in loan-to-buy deal
Everton are in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain to sign striker Hugo Ekitike on loan with a buy clause, according to Patrick Berger.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (10 August), the SPORT1 journalist reports that the Toffees are “really pushing” to sign the 21-year-old forward.
Borussia Dortmund are also in the race, but the player prefers a move to Goodison Park as he doesn’t want to be a back-up. Talks continue over a potential £30m buy clause and whether that will be an option or an obligation.
“PSG not planning with Hugo Ekitike,” he wrote. “Been told Everton really pushing to sign the young attacker.
“Advanced talks for loan deal with buy clause.
“Fabrizio Romano reports on possible €35m (£30m) package.
“Player also on BVB shortlist but he actually doesn’t want to be a backup.”
Boom
For once it seems like the club has moved quickly and decisively in their hunt for a new player and this deal could well happen.
Ekitike was excellent for Reims two seasons ago and that got Newcastle and PSG looking at him, before he eventually opted to head to Paris.

But playing second-fiddle to Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi was never going to be easy and now that the Parisians have replaced that trio with a brand new one, it’s clear that Ekitike isn’t in their plans going forward.
Everton need a dynamic forward with physical and technical attributes and that is something he provides, while also adding pace to the squad and an eye for goals.
It seems like the Toffees are right in the race for his signature and hopefully it can get wrapped up before the end of the window. Dyche needs reinforcements and the club are clearly trying to give them to him.
In other Everton news, the club are set to reignite their interest in another international forward.
