Medical underway for Everton to finalise Youssef Chermiti transfer on Thursday afternoon – Fabrizio Romano

Youssef Chermiti is currently undergoing his Everton medical and will sign his contract this afternoon, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (10 August), the reliable transfer journalist reports that a deal has been “completed” between the Toffees and Sporting CP and everything is ready.

Chermiti is expected to sign a five-year deal at Goodison Park and become a new attacking option for Sean Dyche this season.

“Everton have finally completed Youssef Chermiti deal. Medical tests ongoing as contracts are ready with Sporting,” he wrote.

“Chermiti will sign as new Everton player in the afternoon.”

Finally

There is no doubt that there were Everton fans who were worried that we could be about to see a repeat of the Arnaut Danjuma deal from January with how long this took to get over the line.

Chermiti’s deal was broken weeks ago but hold ups over his personal terms, then a visa to get to England took forever and nerves were being shredded with every passing day.

However a deal now looks set to be done and while he is likely to be registered in time to play against Fulham at the weekend, a debut is probably unlikely.

Everton

Dyche still has Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Neal Maupay, Tom Cannon and Danjuma available to him for that game so it won’t be a massive blow, but having him through the door will be a big boost to the team for the new season.

The boss has got his new striker but hopefully he won’t be the last of the additions before the window closes in a few weeks, with much more needed to avoid another relegation battle.
