Chelsea could try to sign Amadou Onana from Everton amid £100m+ Moises Caicedo update
Chelsea could turn their attentions to Everton midfielder Amadou Onana after Liverpool hijacked their move for Moises Caicedo, according to the Evening Standard.
Writing on their official website (11 August), the news outlet report that the Blues may be forced to look elsewhere for midfield targets after Liverpool agreed a £110m deal with Brighton to hijack their move.
Chelsea have still not given up on signing the Ecuador international, but if he ends up at Liverpool then Belgium international Onana is considered a viable alternative at Stamford Bridge.

“But Liverpool have made a last-ditch move to hijack their deal, swoop for the 21-year-old Ecuador international and sign him from under their noses,” they wrote.
“Losing out on Caicedo would be a major blow for Chelsea, who desperately need to strengthen their midfield after losing Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer.
“The Blues could be forced to switch their focus to Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. They had a £48m bid rejected on Wednesday but could strike a deal with Southampton.
“Everton’s Amadou Onana is another alternative, having been sounded out earlier in the summer.”
Mental
The transfer window has been absolutely crazy recently and this saga pretty much sums up how mad the money in football is these days.
Onana has long been considered as someone who could potentially leave as we look to raise funds, but we also are well aware of how good he is and how much he would need to be replaced.

Reports suggested that Sean Dyche has reluctantly agreed to listen to offers if they come in, with Abdoulaye Doucoure, Idrissa Gueye and James Garner seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order at Goodison Park.
But should he leave he will need to be replaced and with how slow the club have been in the market this summer, there is no guarantee that would happen at this stage.
However, we know Chelsea have big money and we know that they’re desperate if they do end up coming in for him, so we could probably add a few million to the price tag to get a deal done and ensure we’re not left too short.
In other Everton news, player told that Toffees bid has been accepted as he evaluates offer from Goodison.
