Everton news as Alan Myers shares if Wilfried Gnonto will be next transfer after Youssef Chermiti

Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto won’t be the next Everton transfer after the signing of Youssef Chermiti, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist responded to an Everton fan, on Twitter (11 August) regarding the transfer rumours regarding the Italian wonderkid saying that he doesn’t expect anything for now.

Thus far, the Toffees have signed just two players in Ashley Young and Arnaut Danjuma and confirmed Chermiti on Friday morning (11 August) and according to The Times (11 August), the Toffees had a second bid for Gnonto rejected, with the Italian pushing to join Sean Dyche’s revolution (90Min).

And Myers, writing in response to the Gnonto news wrote that he doesn’t expect the Leeds United attacker to be the next in at Goodison Park.

He wrote: “No, not expecting anything for now on that one, don’t think he’ll be the next in put it that way.”

Gnonto intent

It’s clear Everton are intent on signing Gnonto this summer after submitting a second bid for the Italian ace but the question remains whether they will go in with a third.

Leeds United are insistent on keeping Gnonto this summer, but after he asked to sit out their EFL Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday 9 August, it wouldn’t make sense for the Whites to keep an unhappy player.

Everton

All Everton can do is continue to show the Italian that they are the best bet to provide him with the Premier League ambition he craves this season, and in all fairness, Leeds United’s stance won’t remain the same for too long.

Gnonto certainly represents a game-changing addition to Dyche’s ranks and points to a significant change in terms of recruitment from the club and his amazing talents and potential makes Leeds United’s £25m-plus valuation totally understandable.

Right now Everton fans are imagining Gnonto linking up with the likes of Danjuma, Chermiti, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi in attack and Sean Dyche must be harbouring the same hope too, it’s no wonder why the Blues are intent on adding him to their ranks this summer. The pursuit must continue.

In other Everton news, one key Dyche player has been declared fit to feature in their Premier League opener against Fulham on Saturday 12 August.
