Everton news as talks continue for Alex Iwobi contract renewal, no conclusion reached
Everton remain in talks with midfielder Alex Iwobi regarding a new contract with his current deal running out in under 12 months, according to Liverpool ECHO.
According to the report (12 August), no conclusion has yet been reached between the two parties as Everton want to continue dialogue to reach an agreement.
The Toffees kicked off contract talks in September following Iwobi’s revival last season, and Sean Dyche has said negotiations were part of a wider “ongoing process” of dialogue with players and their representatives.

The Nigerian international joined the Toffees in 2019 and was an ever-present last season, starting all 38 games of the Premier League season and Liverpool ECHO reported on 17 July that Everton could be vulnerable to “serious bids” for Iwobi with his long-term future uncertain.
Tie him down
There’s no doubt about it, Iwobi remains one of Dyche’s most crucial components for the forthcoming campaign and it would be absolutely criminal for Everton to lose him now or even in the near future.
With just under 12 months remaining on his current deal, the Toffees are leaving themselves vulnerable and given the importance and stark influence Iwobi has had on the whole team, it will be incredibly difficult to replace him immediately.

Whatever Iwobi wants regarding his new deal, Everton must provide him with it as the Nigerian international possesses all the hallmarks to become one of the best in his position provide the club hand him the conditions and room to thrive.
Everton have already got those conditions off to a good start, completing deals to sign Arnaut Danjuma and Youssef Chermiti, while also aiming to improve Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury troubles, giving Iwobi the qualities around him that could certainly elevate his game even further.
After what’s been a difficult and controversially-ridden year at Goodison Park, things are slowly starting to take shape under Dyche’s management and arguably the most pivotal task of the lot will be tying down Iwobi to a new contract.
Get it done.
