Everton transfer news as Manchester United weigh up move for Amadou Onana
Manchester United are currently weighing up a move to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana after the departure of Fred, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the online report (12 August), Everton’s valuation of Onana will be key as Erik ten Hag’s men also have Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on their list of potential midfield replacements for the Brazilian.
The Mail reported on its website on 7 August that Manchester United were in talks to sign the big-money Belgian but didn’t progress with Everton not keen on letting him leave, however, the Red Devils are now assessing whether to make their move for Onana.

Must keep at all costs
The Belgian maestro has been an instant hit since his £33m move, showcasing his irresistible and dominant talents from midfield in just his first season in England, and his qualities may warrant a bigger platform than Everton before long.
And it’s easy to see why the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and now Manchester United have been linked with his services. His current ability, unique qualities in midfield and stark potential certainly make him an attractive and leading name in a market where several of Europe’s elite are on the hunt for young and exciting midfield prospects – Onana is definitely one of them.

Considering the going rate for midfielders these days, Onana certainly represents a cheaper option for some of Europe’s elite, including Manchester United but Everton must continue to fend off interest in their star man.
The Blues are showing real intent in the transfer market right now, after completing deals for Arnaut Danjuma and Youssef Chermiti and such ambition is absolutely crucial in looking to keep a number of their star players including Onana and Alex Iwobi.
Right now, Everton’s stance on Onana is incredibly firm and if Manchester United were to follow up their interest with a bid in the coming weeks, it’s important the Toffees make a clear that Onana isn’t for sale at any price.
That’s another sure way to show the elite sides that Everton mean business ahead of the new campaign.
In other Everton news, one key Dyche player has been declared fit to feature in their Premier League opener against Fulham on Saturday 12 August.
