Hugo Ekitike ‘Definitely’ not joining Borussia Dortmund as Everton bid tabled to Paris Saint-Germain
Everton were given a huge boost in their pursuit of Hugo Ekitike after it emerged he “definitely” won’t join Borussia Dortmund, according to Patrick Berger.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (12 August), the Sport1 journalist reports that the Bundesliga club are out of the race for the 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward.
Everton and Lens remain “in the race” for his signature but despite having a bid accepted by the Ligue 1 giants, the player staying in Paris can’t be ruled out yet.
“Hugo Ekitike is definitely not coming to Borussia Dortmund, as already reported exclusively on Thursday,” he wrote.
“The 21-year-old striker set to leave PSG. Lens and Everton in the race.
“But Ekitike to stay in Paris cannot be ruled out.”
Phew
Lets be honest, nobody is really expecting this deal to come to fruition but for anyone who is, that’s the biggest hurdle out of the way.
Dortmund are a Champions League club who were just one goal away from ending the Bayern Munich monopoly on the Bundesliga title last season, and they’re known for their development of young players.

Ekitike would have been well within his rights to choose them over us, but with them out of the race Everton now have a great chance of getting this deal over the line.
Lens will also be in the Champions League this season, but most people would be surprised if they consistently managed to get there considering the competition in France and Everton would no doubt be able to compete with them financially.
If Dyche wants the player and the board can get it done, then there won’t be a better chance for them to do it. Get it done quickly to avoid any disappointments.
