Alan Myers shares Everton striker transfer update after Jack Harrison

Alan Myers has hinted that Everton are already working on a deal for a new striker following the news of Jack Harrison’s imminent arrival.

Responding to a fan on Twitter [13 August], the Sky Sports journalist claimed the club are currently working on options in the final third, following their failure to score despite plenty of chances in the opening-day defeat against Fulham.

The fan suggested possible moves for Leicester’s Patson Daka and ex-Everton forward Richarlison, although Myers did not comment on any individuals in his response as he simply expressed his belief that things are being worked on at Goodison Park.

Everton making steps forwards

Despite the Premier League getting underway over the weekend, it has not stopped Everton from being active in the transfer market, particularly following their defeat to Fulham.

Sean Dyche has been targeting forwards to add firepower to his starting lineup at Goodison Park all summer, after the club struggled for goals last season, partly due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury issues and also because of Neal Maupay’s profligacy in front of goal which was apparent again at the weekend.

News broke on Monday [14 August] morning that Everton are set to seal a loan deal for Leeds winger Harrison [Fabrizio Romano], as they target further additions to their squad, in another sign that the Toffees will be very active in the last few weeks of the transfer window.

Everton

The Toffees managed just 34 league goals last season, the second-lowest tally in the Premier League, and their lack of threat going forward was exposed again against Fulham as they failed to score despite dominating the game.

Former Sporting forward Youssef Chermiti arrived at Goodison Park on 11 August, and now the club will look to add further experience to the position.

In other Everton news, the club are likely to sell one first-team ace with interest intensifying.
