Alan Stubbs reacts to Everton signing midfielder Jack Harrison from Leeds United

Former Everton captain Alan Stubbs has praised the signing of midfielder Jack Harrison from Leeds United.

The Toffees confirmed the signing of the 26-year-old on a season-long loan deal on 14 August, with the agreement including a potential option to make the move permanent.

Responding to the news, Stubbs said he believes the midfielder is a “good signing” for the Blues as Sean Dyche looks to strengthen his squad this summer.

Strength in depth

The ex-Everton defender is right in his judgement that it is a good signing as it adds the necessary strength in depth that Dyche is looking to bring in.

The defeat to Fulham on the opening day highlighted the struggles the Toffees have been facing after goals were yet again hard to come by.

Harrison has earned some valuable Premier League experience over the past few years at Elland Road, having made 107 appearances in the top flight before his side were relegated last season.

Harrison, who is currently sidelined through a hip injury that is expected to keep him out for about three more weeks, is also a goal threat after scoring six times and producing 10 assists in 40 games during the last campaign.

The Blues boss will be delighted to get one of his top targets through the door this summer and will be looking forward to, hopefully, having him available for selection next month.
