Everton transfer news as Leeds United may now drop Wilfried Gnonto price
Leeds United are expected to drop their asking price for winger Willy Gnonto, as he continues to push for a move to Everton, according to Jacque Talbot.
The Football Transfers journalist shared via his Twitter account on 14 August that Leeds’ position on the transfer of Gnonto is expected to change, along with the £25million asking price being lowered.
It was also shared that Everton have had personal dialogue with the player’s agents as far back as the end of last season, with personal terms agreed as the Toffees can provide him with Premier League game time ahead of the European Championships next summer.
Patience is a virtue
Patience will prove to be a virtue at Goodison Park if they land a deal for the Italian winger. They have been persistent in their pursuit of him throughout the transfer window, while Leeds have been sticking to a high asking price, but if that price is set to drop, Everton will pounce.
Since they can offer Gnonto a starting role, with the 19-year-old almost guaranteed a place either up top or on the wing due to the Toffees’ lack of depth, they should prove to be the best option in his desire to leave Elland Road in search of game time at the top level.
There has been interest reported from Tottenham [LondonWorld, 15 August], who seem to have joined the race, but Everton will be hoping that the playing time and personal terms they agreed will be enough to keep Gnonto interested.

Leeds initially believed they would be able to persuade Gnonto to stick around as they fight to get out of the Championship, as no club would match their asking price, but the player has gone on strike and refused to participate in their games against Shrewsbury or Birmingham as Everton close in.
In other Everton news, one club have made a £20m+ offer for a Goodison-linked player.
