Finance Expert shares Everton verdict on MSP Sports Capital investment delay
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Everton
Dan Plumley has insisted that investment always takes time as MSP Sports Capital and Everton are still yet to announce confirmation of any deal.
The finance expert admitted that the individual circumstances of clubs and owners can affect timescales, with the current finances and matters on the pitch a mess.
BBC Sport recently reported that there were no obstacles over the investment, despite entering a period of exclusivity all the way back in May, with the process ongoing.

“They always take time,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“They will take longer dependent on a few things, the situation of the club and the position of the negotiations between any investors coming in and outgoing owners.
“If you look at those two things for Everton and why this is maybe taking a bit of time, there was the real danger that Everton were not going to be a Premier League club.
“Then, you’ve got the current ownership situation and the current finances which we know have been a real mess, you’ve got the stadium and those things all bring added complexities.

“A general take on it is it was always going to take time, but the extension of that time is dependent on the individual circumstances of the club and the owner, from what we’ve seen, there are a lot of challenges and issues behind this deal.”
