Journalist Paul Brown provides an update on Everton’s pursuit of striker Beto
Beto is a player of interest to Everton at this moment in time, although supporters will have to “wait and see” what happens, according to journalist Paul Brown.
As previously reported by Messaggero Veneto (14 August), Beto is a target for Everton with the Toffees facing competition from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest in their pursuit of the 25-year-old’s signature.
The former Portimonense frontman scored 10 goals and provided one assist in 33 Serie A appearances for his club last season.

And Brown has offered an update on the club’s latest hunt for a brand new striker to lead the line at Goodison Park next season.
“I haven’t seen enough of Beto to know whether he’s the right option for Everton, but I don’t think talks are very advanced there,” Brown told GIVEMESPORT (15 August).
“I know there’s an interest but there’s been an interest in several strikers around Europe, so how likely it is for this one to happen, I’m not sure yet. We will have to wait and see.”
Uncertain
Brown’s update will not provide many supporters on Merseyside with much confidence that they will be seeing Beto hold up an Everton shirt or sign a contract while sitting next to Sean Dyche anytime soon.
A move makes plenty of sense with Dyche in desperate need of firepower going forward and the Udinese striker having already proven that he can score consistently at the highest level.

Prior to his 10 goals and one assist last season, Beto found the back of the net on 11 occasions in 28 appearances during the 2021/22 campaign, his debut year in Italy’s top flight.
There would be plenty of chances for him to make an impact in the Premier League if he was to make the switch and he could be a key to avoiding a relegation scrap for Dyche’s men. However, at this moment in time, it doesn’t seem as if a transfer is very close at all.
In other Everton news, another club has made a bid for a player the Toffees are targeting.
