Everton transfer news as Che Adams move on cards for £12million

Everton are leading the race to sign Southampton striker Che Adams, as they are in talks with the South Coast club over a £12million deal, according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist shared via his Patreon on 17 August that Everton are leading Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bournemouth in their pursuit of the Scotland international, who would jump at the chance of a move.

The Merseyside club had looked at a move for Leicester City striker Patson Daka, but have decided Adams is now the most likely candidate to fill the hole up front.

He’d be great playing under Dyche

As much as Adams has never been a prolific goalscorer, at least not in his time in the Premier League, he is the type of striker that would excel under the management of Sean Dyche. His physical approach would work perfectly in a pairing with one of the Toffees’ other strikers.

He scored five goals in the Premier League as Southampton were relegated last season, but wouldn’t necessarily be the main man relied upon for goals in this Everton side, particularly if Dominic Calvert-Lewin starts firing upon his return from injury.

Adams scored the winner in Southampton’s opening Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday and went on to bag another in their dramatic 4-4 draw with Norwich as he continues his strong form so far this season.

Everton will be hoping that he can carry this form into the Premier League if he joins them. They have been looking to improve depth up front, particularly after failing to score in their opening game against Fulham despite creating plenty of opportunities.
